A Brief History: I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing(Magna Cum Laude). HBU provided me with many opportunities. I was president of the Nursing Student Association,
went to Aberdeen,Scotland as an international exchange student and was able to participate in a medical mission trip to Mexico.
Attending HBU allowed me to work in various hospitals in the world famous Texas Medical Center. Following graduation I began
my nursing career as a staff nurse at St.Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston Texas in their Cardiovascular Recovery Room.
While there I was able to work directly with the "King of Hearts" Dr. Denton Cooley and gain a tremendous amount
of knowledge to help lay the foundation for my goal of becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I completed the
didactic portion of my Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas in
2002. I completed my clinical residency training at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen,Texas and graduated from Texas
Wesleyan's Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia on December 5th 2003. I received my CCNA certification results on Christmas
Eve 2003 with a perfect score of 600! My conituing education classes involve Pediatricic Advanced Life Support(PALS),
Advanced Cardiac Life Support(ACLS) and various topics in Anesthesia as discussed at Northwest Anesthesia Conferences. Currently,
I am involved in the development of Policy and Procedure for the use of Patient Controlled Epidural Anesthesia pumps for use
in the Obstetrical unit of GSMC.
